Professor Jao was the first one who researched Laozi Xiang Er Zhu. The publication of this book caused a sensation in the academic world, and an upsurge of interest in researching Taoism in Europe in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century. Professor Maxime Kaltenmark (1910-2002), Head of the Centre for Sinological Studies (Beijing), the University of Paris, even listed it as a must-read for graduate students.
